Investment - Why Romania?

Whilst it may be off the beaten track to many, one reason why it is cheap and presents real opportunity, and we are not talking about exotic like Central Asia or Africa. The opportunities in Romania are more comparable to that in Spain after Franco, or Portugal after its African colonies devolved. It has Europe's South-Eastern entry port and the only maritime and river port on the Black Sea capable of receiving the biggest ships of the modern world. An interface between Europe and Asia, a sort of «revolving door» as well as the main port used for transhipping crude oil and containers, Constanta Harbour is a well-equipped tool for the benefit of international operators.

Romania still has a few too many problem to iron out before it can be seen as a legitimate place to invest. It's high levels of corruption would scare off even the most adventurous investors!

    Dear Anthony

I note how you speak with such authority on Romania. I would therefore be interested for you to explain if Romania has far to many problems for the legitimate investor as you state. Why over the past 18 months has Romania absorbed an enormous 51.8% of Central Eastern Investment if so Volatile? There are 7 Countries in CEE. 2 are not yet EU members, yet one of these Romania has absorbed on average 44% more investment than any of the others CEE countries. Couple this with the Investment Rating having been improved 5 times over the last 12 months and a GDP at a predicted 6.5% for this year. I am of the opinion that your statement is without substance.
